The first services of the Apostolic Life Tabernacle were held in the War Memorial Building on Main Street in November of 1984. These services were the result of Dale and Kathy Tienter answering the call to come to New Martinsville to begin a church. In answering that call, they departed their home church in Harrisville, WV. Service began with an attendance of nine people from three families: the Tienter’s, the Dewitt’s, and the Shingleton’s. From there, services were held in the Tienter’s home, beginning in August of 1985.

Property was purchased in June of 1985, and work started in July of the same year. With the basement completed in December, services were moved there. Work continued until the completion of the new facility. The facilities have been appraised for $90,000. Jim Perine assisted in the architectural aspect of the building.

Saturday, December 12, 1987 was a great day for the Apostolic Life Tabernacle as ministers, saints, and friends convened to dedicate the facility to the Lord. Pastor Kenneth Perine (from Harrisville and father of the pastor’s wife), preached. He chose for his subject, “What The House of God Means To Me,” taking his text from I Kings 3:5-9.

Later, Dale Tienter was elected as pastor of the Harrisville church, and Randy Hardbarger was elected as pastor of the New Martinsville church. During his tenure, the name of the church was changed to New Life Apostolic Church. After his seven-year period of service, Joe Adkins was elected as pastor, and he served for two years.

On October 1, 2017 Pastor Jay and Sister Melanie Armstrong held their first service as the newly elected pastor and pastor’s wife. The Armstrong’s are excited about the future of New Life Apostolic Church, and are believing the Lord for revival and growth!
